Progression Fuels Destruction

from The Awkward Pause Between Life And Death (WIP) by Duncan Buchanan

/

about

Being walked over and regretting life choices. The final entry to my 'Progression' trilogy across all 3 albums.

lyrics

Bind our arms at the wrists
Then tie them behind our backs
Under the cover of night
Tell the crowds to spread the word
Migrate, fly away with the flock
Give them the key to the starting pistol
And leave me behind like some twisted resistor
Counting the pebbles and what they’re worth

Don’t tempt me to look, I don’t think I could
I hope you know, It’s my world that you shook
Even after digging in your heels I couldn’t go
Self destruction is easy when you’ve nothing to lose

You meant the world to me and I asked for naught
But I took the blame and I faced the court
You watched as my blood it boiled
And all I’m left with is my parchment and pen
Well guess what, I’m writing this all down
Nothing stays secret in this shitty town
Maybe next time I’ll remember to write
Maybe next time it will remind me to fight
